"...do you belong to me, or do I belong to you?" The Sanctus Real lyrics run through my head every day and as I am in a constant progress of relying less on my heart and emotions and more on my faith my meta-cognative rambles help in the process-I hope.

This is Why I am as Teacher
This is my secret too! We have a deaf autistic student at my school that stops by my room everyday. Kenny is my morning sunshine and I swear I am going to learn fluent sign language if it kills me! So far all I can sign is "Kenny is a cool dude". It is true, he really is!

you are right......the people in society who seem to be marginalized because of their disabilities really are the ones that have the most to teach us! i'm sure kenny loves the small amount of sign language you know!
That sounds like a wonderful reason to love what you do! Best of luck on the sign language! I was a special education major for 5 semesters in college and learned a good amount of signing, unfortunatly I can now only remember the alphabet and a few words....this is something I would really like to learn for good!

Kudos to all teachers. You really are the pillars of our society.
(I still remember the sign language alphabet from 3rd grade... FYI: Owens offers sign language classes...)
That's so good that you can reach out to a kid like Kenny.
We have a child in our church that has Aspergers, and one of my best friends has a daughter with autism, a son with aspergers, and a son with ADD.
Talk about stress!!
